Houria CIC is a Bristol-based anti-slavery and anti-racism organisation, training and hiring female survivors of slavery in a Pan-African catering company.
Based in Bristol, Houria was founded in January 2020 and has had to navigate the difficulties caused by the Covid 19 pandemic alongside the normal challenges of starting up an enterprise. Their mission is to train migrant women and particularly female victims of slavery, building employment skills and creating a supportive community.
Food is a community builder. In preparing dishes and feasts based on culinary contributions of women from the migrant community, Houria taps into and gives value to their talents and experience, while those that share in the food get a taste of different cultures.
Alongside this work, Kim, one of the founders of Houria is an anti-slavery and anti-racist educator, raising awareness about these issues.
